Chiropractic for Children

Our children are our most precious resource. We provide care for newborns, infants, toddlers and school-aged children. Dr. Graham is a member of the International Chiropractic and Pediatric Association (ICPA). Dr. Graham is also certified in the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific system of chiropractic analysis and adjustment to reduce interference to the nervous system and restore biomechanical balance in the pelvis allowing the baby to get in the best possible position for birth.

Give your child the gift of health for a lifetime with Chirorpractic

Most people are surprised to find out that most of the problems we have as adults began when we were children. Some adults may wonder why more and more children are seeing chiropractors. That’s a great question and the answer is simple: whether we have a large spine or a tiny little spine, if that spine is creating nerve stress then our magnificent bodies may not operate smoothly. It is much easier to grow a healthy child than fix a broken adult. Chiropractic support’s your body’s inborn healing system and helps you achieve your optimum health potential without the use of drugs.

Spinal Examinations

On top of our regular monthly check ups, we recommend a minimum of 5 critical spinal exams:

The first week – recovering from birth
At 2 months – holding head up
At 6 months – sitting up
At 8 months – crawling
At 11 months – standing and /or walking
Regular monthly checkups

Chiropractors tailor the adjustments to children. Special instrument or finger light pressure is all the spine needs most of the time when adjusting children. Children love to be adjusted and usually respond very quickly.

How do babies and children get nerve irritation (vertebral subluxations)?

A simple spinal check up now can make a big difference to your child’s health forever. From the time of the birth process, the spine (which houses the important nerve pathways of the spinal cord) can be injured in a variety of ways. The birth process itself is always a stress on the child’s structure.

Your children may have subluxations in their spines and not know it. Those first hesitant steps soon evolve into jumping and running; falls and accidents are all part of a normal childhood. While most falls are minor, at times they can cause spinal, nerve-damaging vertebral subluxations with serious long-term consequences. For that reason all children need periodic chiropractic spinal check-ups.

Vertebral subluxations occur as part of everyday normal life. They may result from physical and emotional stressors or insults to our health such bad posture, prolonged postures , sleeping on our stomach, knocks and falls, poor food choices, dehydration, exposure to chemicals and toxins, and stress and anxiety. Research also shows that vertebral subluxations also may occur from birth complications such as long labours, very fast labours, vacuum, forceps or caesarean section delivery.

Common conditions that respond very well to chiropractic adjustments include:

Sinus problems
Stomach aches
Constipation
Painful arms and legs
Poor posture
Scoliosis
Neck and back pain
Abnormal spinal curvatures
Headaches
Uneven hips or shoulders
